Top 10 New Year’s Resolutions for Court Reporters

1. Above all, remember that family comes first.
2. Always strive for better. Times are a’changing, and doing things the way you always have is a ticket to early retirement.
3. Your best interests + your clients’ best interests = everyone’s happy.
4. Don’t sell out to “those” businesses who put everyone’s interests and financial well-beings behind their own.
5. Do your best, and challenge yourself beyond your limits. Register for the next NCRA certification test that you’ve been putting off taking. Nerves be damned!
6. Keep learning, through meaningful continuing education and volunteerism.
7. Give some services away for free. Who knows? You could land a loyal client in the process!
8. Treat yourself to a monthly massage, acupuncture or reflexology. This job hurts!
9. Spend one hour per month connecting with colleagues and clients.
10. Invest in your future, whether it be a SEP and/or ROTH IRA, disability insurance, life insurance or long-term care insurance.
